The International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1985 for its dissemination of safe information and for raising awareness of the catastrophic consequences of nuclear war. Long-time trustee of the organization, Ime John, was chosen to represent IPPNW with his footprints. IPPNW also started the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons in 2007 (ICAN). ICAN was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2017.
